32.6m “INUKSHUK” new build launched at BALTIC +
27.5m “Wavelength” refit re-launched at Holland Jachtbouw (HJB)

MCM were present at the launch of two sailing yachts, whose owners have benefited from MCM acting as owner’s representative, keeping all involved motivated and a watchful eye on costs and quality:

INUKSHUK: a new-build 32.6-metre carbon composite Germán Frers-designed sloop at Baltic in Finland – “The owner set the bar for the project very high and the extraordinary interior design from Adam Lay Studios presented many challenges to implement. This is not the largest yacht that Baltic has built but in detail and quality of build it is their best so far” – Nigel Ingram, MCM. An automatically-deployed bimini and mega sound system are examples of comfortable living being a theme in the cockpit. Inukshuk is named after a stone landmark used by the Inuit of the Canadian Arctic. INUKSHUK will be at Monaco Yacht Show.

MCMwavelengthpicsWavelength: a newly-refitted Ron Holland-designed 27.5-metre (ex BOOTOO) at HJB in the Netherlands – “We first got involved when the clients were in discussion about a new-build. After careful evaluation, it was deemed best to purchase an interim yacht, use it for a year or so and then refit it to address any shortcomings” – Peter Wilson, MCM. The refit included moving the helm from mid cockpit to aft deck to allow a larger cockpit table for guests and converting the master cabin from a twin to a queen and replacing the owner’s office with an extra cabin as well as refurbishment of mast, sails, hydraulics and a new main engine.

MCM reports positive results from Monaco Yacht Show

Marine Construction Management (MCM) reports positive results from exhibiting at Monaco and continues to attract yacht owners looking for expert advice during the construction and operation of their yachts.

“The annual pilgrimage to the Monaco Yacht Show was a busy time for all of us from MCM, having had meetings not only with vendors, designers and industry insiders, but also very in-depth and interesting deliberations with prospective clients as well as current and past clients. Being well represented in Monaco with four members of our squad in attendance, plus a booth, again proved to be a most worthwhile undertaking.” – Peter Wilson.

MCM current new builds include:
47.6 metre sloop at Royal Huisman, for 2014 delivery.
39.0 metre expedition motor yacht at Alloy Yachts, for 2013 delivery.

Q5-Sailing-PR

“QUINTESSENTIAL” (a.k.a. Q5), managed by MCM, successfully enjoyed her maiden voyage to Fiji.

This 30-metre composite sailing catamaran was built at Yachting Developments in New Zealand, with MCM acting on the owner’s behalf and now providing full ongoing management. Since her commissioning and sailing trials in the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland, where her Southern Spars carbon mast and Doyle Sails were tested, she has sailed her maiden voyage to the Pacific island of Fiji in great time. She left Auckland on Sunday afternoon and arrived in Fiji on Friday afternoon - covering 1,300 miles in five days Not a bad shakedown. The owner told MCM’s Peter Wilson:

“This is ridiculously nice!”

“This is just as I expected it to be – but better!”

Quintessential”, designed by Warwick Yacht Design, has a beautiful teak interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon with accommodation for 10 guests and operates with six crew. The master cabin is situated on the main deck forward, which offers 180-degree views through the wrap-around windows. A short walk, via private access from this cabin, leads to the Jacuzzi located just forward.

The social areas are truly spectacular with spacious indoor/outdoor living between the main saloon and the aft cockpit complete with double-sided bar. There is satellite TV and broadband throughout the yacht including a fully reticulated movie and music distribution system controlled by iPads.

She has a fully-enclosed bridge above the saloon which sports a host of the latest sailing instruments, navigation electronics and communications systems.

This yacht is a vacation resort unto herself with a sailing dinghy (a catamaran of course), 2 tenders, a jet-ski, 5 mountain bikes, 2 stand-up paddle boards, scuba gear, 2 carbon-fibre kayaks and a host of other amenities.

MCM is proud to have her join its yacht management fleet.

MCM has managed the construction of over 70 yachts in the last 24 years.
MCM will be exhibiting at Monaco Yacht Show where its founding partners Nigel Ingram and Peter Wilson are available for interview.

St Barths BucketMCM-LadyB-StBarths Regatta

MCM had six yachts competing (Lady B, Blue Too, Marie, Whisper, Boo Too and Paraiso)
– with Lady B winning the “Mademoiselles” class and Blue Too just missing first place in the “Elegantes” class.

Four of MCM’s team were there – Nigel Ingram and Peter Wilson playing key roles on the ketch Marie, Mike Drake running the sail controls on Paraiso and Mark Dauplaise helping to secure Lady B’s class victory.

A spectacular 47 boat event that saw the owners and their guests enjoying champagne sailing in the Caribbean gem that is St. Barths.

MCM yachts win top awards at World Superyacht Awards in London for both Motor Yacht and Sailing Yacht projects, plus Yacht Management Division strengthened.

MCM was delighted to have had SIX of its most recent new launches presented as finalists at the World Superyacht Awards in London on 7 May which this year was the most tightly judged competition ever. Each finalist is recognised for its contribution towards the highest standards of design, driven by the owners.

Calliope_news.jpgCALLIOPE WINS BEST MOTOR YACHT AWARD
MCM is thrilled to announce the 42.3m Langan designed semi-displacement motor yacht Calliope has been voted the "Best Motor Yacht" in her class by the World Superyacht Award judges.
Calliope was designed by Langan Design Associates, with an interior by Rhoades Young – all expertly built by Holland Jachtbouw. We are particularly proud of this achievement.
This award is an especially emotional one for us, as Bill Langan who passed away earlier this year aged 55, was a very dear friend and respected colleague – and we are sure that he would have been thrilled to know that Calliope – the last yacht built to his design – was considered the best of its class. His wife Candy Langan who worked closely with the owners on the interior outfitting and decoration, collected the trophy.
KOKOMO WINS JUDGES' SPECIAL AWARD
In the Best Sailing Yacht 45m+ category, we are also excited to announce that the massive 58.4m Dubois-designed sloop Kokomo has been given a "Judges' Special Award" for the way in which she "has massively advanced the design of high-performance cruisers".

With her 130-tonne lifting keel, that has a range of 4.9 to 8.1m, and her powerful sail plan supported by her extraordinary 80m high modulus carbon fibre mast, we appreciate how the decision to give Kokomo this special award was reached.

Congratulations of course go to Alloy Yachts who spent hundreds of thousands of hours to design, engineer and build all of her Kokomo_maynews.jpgadvanced systems and also to Redman Whiteley Dixon for the contemporary and elegant interior.
Neptune_news.jpgLADY B WINS JUDGES' COMMENDATION
The 44.7m Lady B, designed by Dubois with a Rhoades Young interior and beautifully built Vitters, received a judges commendation for her remarkable quality and attention to detail.
AND ADDITIONALLY...
Marie (54.6m Hoek, Vitters, Easton), Lionheart (43.7m Hoek, Claasen Jachtbouw) and Nilaya (34.1m Nauta, Reichel/Pugh/Baltic) were selected as finalists, which is in and of itself a worthy achievement.

It was quite a night for MCM's partners Nigel Ingram and Peter Wilson, both of whom were in attendance at this elegant and glamorous event at London's historic Guildhall.
YACHT MANAGEMENT DIVISION
As of today, MCM also strengthens its Yacht Management Division. Mike Drake is promoted to head up the Yacht Management Division. Mark Dauplaise joins MCM’s Newport Rhode Island office adding the benefit of wide-ranging skills including most recently a senior US shipyard position, managing new builds and refits.

ISSaward72dpi.jpgMCM is pleased to announce that Kokomo has won the International Superyacht Society Award for Best Sailing Yacht 40m+ at this years 20th ISS Design Awards in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

MCM would like to congratulate the Owners, Dubois Naval Architects, Redman Whiteley Dixon, Alloy Yachts and the rest of the team on this outstanding accomplishment.
